1. Worked example: a station lifts a 180 kg fixture from floor to a bench 2.5 m high, under a beam at 4.3 m. Allow 0.6 m for the hook block, so hook travel is about 3.1 m and the 6 m version still leaves margin. At 8 m/min the raise takes roughly 23 seconds; 2 m/min handles the last few centimetres.

• On an assembly line it hangs over one station, lifting sub-assemblies at 8 m/min, then dropping to 2 m/min to seat them.

• The housing is formed in aluminum, which keeps the unit light, compact and low in dead weight. Sealing is of a high standard, with an IP55 rating against dust and water, so dusty workshops pose no problem. The gearbox and brake are built to run long-term with no maintenance. Sprockets mount on a plug-in principle, so a worn one can be swapped out while the motor and gearbox stay assembled, which keeps servicing straightforward. Before you order​
Three things decide whether this hoist fits your building: the beam, the power and the headroom. Measure the beam's safe working load first, because a 250 kg load puts roughly half a tonne on the structure once the block and chain are counted. Then check that the supply at the beam is three-phase; 380 V at 50 Hz is what most of our export units are wound for. Finally, stand under the beam and look up. The hook has to reach the floor without the body fouling a truss.

 Installation day​
Installation need two people. Fix the suspension point first, then lift the hoist with a sling through the top of the frame, never by the chain. Hang the chain bag clear of the load path and leave enough slack in the pendant cable that the operator can stand to one side of the load. Power up with the hook empty: press up and down once, check that the upper limit stops the hook with room to spare, then run a full lift with no load. Only then put weight on it.

When this is the wrong hoist​
This is a fixed hoist, so it lifts in one spot. If the load has to travel along a beam, buy the trolley version instead; fitting one later is not a straight swap. It is also the wrong tool for continuous production, where the hoist runs all shift. At 60% duty it needs the other 40% to cool, and a unit that never rests will say so at the brake and the contactors. For that kind of work, step up to a heavier frame.

Chain care, without fuss​
The chain tells you how the hoist has been treated. Once a month, run it through a gloved hand and look for flat spots, twisted links and rust at the joints. Wipe it rather than soaking it; a thin film of chain oil is enough, and too much collects grit. If a link is deformed, replace the chain, not the link. Keep the bag clear of swarf, because a bag full of turnings wears a chain faster than load does.

What arrives in the crate​
Each crate holds the hoist, the pendant with its cable, a chain bag, the hook block and a paper manual with the wiring diagram folded inside the cover. The chain is shipped greased and the electrical cover is sealed, so you do not need to open it before installation.

Two questions we get every week​
Can I hang it from an I-beam? Yes, provided the beam or the trolley under it is rated for the load and the suspension point sits plumb above the hook. Can I use it outdoors? The motor is IP55, which keeps dust and water jets out, but that is not a marine or immersion rating. Under a roof it is fine; in driving rain on a coast it is the wrong choice.

What we keep on the shelf​
Keep one spare chain and one contactor on the shelf and you will not lose a shift to either. The parts that go first on this class of hoist are the ones that move: the brake, the contactors, the pendant cable at its strain relief. Everything else tends to outlast the building it hangs in. A photo of the nameplate gets you the right part the first time.

Vertical Single-point Hoisting

A single vertical axis. With no trolley on the frame, the load tracks one line up and down. That is exactly what press loading, drum filling, bench assembly and other one-position tasks require.

Double speeds

VFD speed regulation system

Gentle acceleration and deceleration are applied to both the lifting drive and the long-travel drive. Load pick-up becomes smoother, impact forces in the frame are reduced, oscillation of the suspended load is damped, and repeatable stopping points are achieved with heavy workpieces. Both motions accept continuously variable speed settings, suiting fast-cycle operation as well as slow, accurate placement. Integral safeguards against overload, over-current and related faults sit inside the inverter, adding a layer of protection to the machine. Assembly work carried out on production lines, together with the handling of precision components, are typical applications.

Pendant Control Station

An orange-and-black moulded plastic case, tough enough to take impacts and resist oil, houses the controls for daily workshop use. Press the red button at the top and the power is cut at once; the two buttons underneath handle raising and lowering.

Electrical Cabinet Wiring & Assembly

 

Wiring work is under way inside the electrical control cabinet, with a technician making the terminations. Beside the cabinet sits the blue mechanical main body, fitted with its gear reduction unit. Power cables and control cables are laid out and joined by the operator in line with the electrical drawings.
