Wire rope Quality

The safety factor we select for the wire rope complies with the requirements of GB/T 3811. Furthermore, there are specific requirements for the matching of the wire rope with the drum and pulleys: the drum groove radius should be 0.525 to 0.56 times the wire rope diameter, and the groove depth should be 0.28 to 0.45 times the diameter; the pulley groove radius should be controlled within 0.52 to 0.56 times the diameter, and the pulley must be equipped with a protective device to prevent the wire rope from jumping out of the groove. Through precise control of these matching parameters, the compression deformation and frictional wear of the wire rope can be effectively reduced, ensuring the smoothness and safety of the lifting process.

Q4: What should be done before using a newly installed hoist?

A: A newly installed or reassembled electric hoist should undergo several no-load test runs. Do not power on and test run the hoist before installation is complete. Before normal use, a static load test at 125% of the rated load should be performed: lift the hoist approximately 100mm off the ground and hold for 10 minutes, checking that all components are functioning correctly. Subsequently, a dynamic load test involving repeated lifting, lowering, and left/right movement under the rated load should be performed.

Q5: Why can't the wire rope be pulled at an angle or tilted?

A: Pulling at an angle will cause the wire rope to become disordered on the drum, potentially leading to it being squeezed and deformed into the gaps at the drum end, or causing abnormal wear between the wire rope and the drum housing. In severe cases, it can even damage the rope guide. Furthermore, pulling at an angle will cause uneven stress on the wire rope, increasing the risk of rope breakage.

Q6: What should the wire rope be maintained in on the drum?

A: The wire rope should be neatly arranged on the drum and run smoothly without jumping or snagping. When the hook is lowered to its lowest position, at least two (three turns in some specifications) effective safety turns must remain on the drum to prevent the wire rope from slipping off.
